Up track from sw... Trig S8710 sunny but light breeze, thank Godvegibagger18/06/2023
Drove up the icy road from Tarland towards Boig. We got as far as we could and a kind lady let us park on her drive, just before the road crossed the Burn of Glaaick. Walked the rest of the frozen road to Boig then took the signposted path uphill through the sheep fields to a gate into the forest. Walked east then north up the forest tracks then out onto the open hillside. Followed fence to summit. Thigh-deep unconsolidated snow at -8 degrees made this a memorable 6 hour walk! With Mntainman.Dangerous Dave13/12/2022
From Tarland, waymaked route not easy to follow , lots of new cycle tracksBLACKHILL01/11/2022
New parking layby NJ 4720 0763 with FP sign. Mapped path top side forest NJ 474 080 currently very long grass. Easier walk direct up fence line to W to track junction (NJ 4740 0829). Then good track of compacted earth NE. Track up thru' forest becoming over grown but still good walking all the way up.carole engel24/07/2022
From Boig, walkers car park 200m E. Easy ascent. Continue straight up along the fence at NJ473080; the paths through the field on OS 25k & 50k don't exist. The track N from Black Howe is becoming overgrown. Galltywenallt23/06/2022

A very pleasant walk using the WH route anti clockwise from Tarland because of prevailing Easterly wind and because walking toward best views. All of the South facing slopes between Pressendye and Broom Hill are now planted with conifers so would advise doing this Hill before the super panoramas disappear.Ben Rinnes20/04/2022
From Tarland, following the Blue Trail (map on board in village centre), going out of village on minor road to N, turning NE into a track at NJ48005, then following mapped tracks and markers all the way to the summit, returning same way (3h5m)kdbennett18/03/2022

Solo on a beautiful day. Followed SMC guidebook route from Petts farm.alexmaclennan02/11/2020
MTB via Alamein. Followed track to summit then back down to North. Path was a river so cycled down the heather a bit of which jammed in my rear mech causing breakage. Had to be rescued from the nearest public road.RodMcGovern04/10/2020
10 mile 4 top circular from Boig with L and the dogs. W-E (deliberately) along the easy rolling ridge on a good track to have the wind behind us. Great views over tranquil Tarland - family home of Cpt Phillipa Tatersall -the first woman to pass the 'not so tranquil' all arms Commando Course. Getting over the 6ft wall whist being 5'4 being particularly challenging. Presumably she has run up here once or twice for fitness training in between also swimming the channel and winning a medal for snowboarding.Chris Pearson21/07/2020

From Balnakelly. Up via Craiglea Hill and The Socach, down the NE ridge (bit of fiddling at the bottom to avoid GOML at West Balbakelly). Great route. 5th of 5 today: Tap o'Noth, The Buck, Lord Arthur's Hill, Coiliochbhar Hill, Pressendye.PGCE21/02/2018

With Jenx. Parked at Boig, friendly farmer ok’d straight up track and field line to conifer plantation. Over gate and track until obvious path found, goes direct up hill. At new deer fence pass through gate and angle across to second gate. Stay within fenced area climbing hill. Final deer gate allows escape from enclosure to enjoy the summit rocksnordicstar23/10/2015
