| Parked the car on the Northern end of the A702 and got the 3km road walk out of the way. Followed the Southern Upland Way to Lowther Hill (with a small diversion for Laght Hill), then East Mount Lowther with good views of the Lake District Fells. Returned almost to access road then contoured S and via Wether Hill to narrow beallach and steep climb to Staygail. Descended via Westside Height to Carron Water and return mainly following fence line on hillside above road and then joining line of Roman road to Overfingland.
