Showery weatger changed our start point. Drove round on minor roads with many potholes to wimdfarm access track close ish to black craig farm. Easy plod up and down. Meadow pipit, two carrion, one snipe in damp, ditch close to start. Blackies, evidence of cows.VerySlowPlodder12/07/2023
From the parking area N of the Sub-Station. Followed track to the N shore of Loch Howie. At nearing the end of the track headed into the trees for Wallace's Rig. Easy bash through as the lower branches break off very easily. Headed up into the highest contour ring on the map as the actual summit is impossible to decipher. Back down the way we came and then onto Blackcraig Hill, Benneeve and Fell Hill. Then through the brash to to the track that heads past Loch Skae which was then followed to Loch Howie and the A702 and the short stroll along the road back to the carWayne Mac12/02/2023
5/5 Marilyns. Parked at entrance NX 75036-84359 on a Saturday. Simple bag, but lots of forestry signs and lots of work near the ruins. Also spotted a trail camera near the locked metal gate. The ruins are very boggy with cattle imprints filled with water. Wind farm road goes very near the top so will be MTB do-able.Jhimmy30/07/2022
Parked at entrance to forest road to the east. Walked to Fell ruin then straight up to the summit. Solo.Dangerous Dave25/01/2022
Fell Bridge to forest on hard track. Boggy, overgrown track to Fell and then more-or-less straight up, crossing wind-farm road just before summit.m0jla12/09/2021
2 of 3: After Bennan we drove to the track end at 750843. Then west to the gate, rough track to the ruin at Fell and up to the top. With Karen.ChrisR01/09/2021
Parked at wind farm track start (NX 6882 8374). Essentially followed the road to Blackcraig Hill, Benneeve then approx NX 7221 8411 where I peeled off the road and bashed 300m over the snow. On the return, dropped down to NX 7109 8442 to pick up a break leading on to good track to Laggan and back to road.jonglew06/02/2021
Windfarm track from north to Blackcraig Hill then on to Benneeve and to the large cairn on Fell Hill. Overcast all day so views came and went. Returned by dropping fairly easily through felled area to Loch Skae then track to Laggan and back to car.SS17/01/2021
Up tracks from A702 to NW. Wind farm track now links Blackcraig - Benneeve - Fell Hill. Unfortunately, descent via 712843 to Loch Skae is rough going.49pp07/08/2020
Parked at the track end West of Loch Urr, 750843. Cycled West on the quite stoney track to a gate East of Fell, then walked along the edge of the forestry to Fell and from here, it is a straight walk to the top.Simon Winton08/03/2020
The voie normale from Fell Bridge. The track may be drivable but nasty sharp rocks would consume more tyre rubber than worthwhile for the minimal time save. Much better to stroll along admiring the view of the bloody wind turbines. But seriously, it's a nice walk after you get to Fell, going off piste up the hill until you get to the power station/ industrial wasteland at the top. Frozen conditions are best.Gill30/01/2019
4 of 7 today. Rough track to forest East of Fell ruins.PGCE25/09/2018
From Fell Bridge. New track to woods (could/should have driven to wood) then old track to disused Fell Farm and up to summit. Avoids wind farm till final pull.N.Morters27/04/2018
Parked at the road end . At the Craigmuie sign keep left on grass track to ruins at Fell, then easily to summit.NormanW18/04/2018
Usual route from the East, works finished apparently. Pretty dry underfoot today too.agentmancuso05/08/2017
From Fell Bridge - new forestry track, old original track then crossed wind farm motorway about 100m before summit.jimbloomer05/02/2017
What a mess at the top with the wind farm. Loads of diggers hard at work, big new access track cut into the hillside, large amounts of peat strewn around. Felling going on before Fell Farm also. Parked south of the cattle grid, just as well not to park by the track entrance with the size of the timber trucks.Owen B04/11/2016
Linear route: up from A702 to the W; down to minor road to the E. I wouldn't recommend the approach from the W! Route and write-up shown at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/bogrie-hill-and-fell-hill.htmlGayle31/08/2016
Route as Ian & Gerry - huge excavations across summit and it looks like a turbine is planned very near to cairn.Chris Peart23/07/2016
Parked at cattle grid. New log road almost to farm. Now a very depressing hill. New wind farm road in progress, scarring everything. Stretches for miles. Mostly overcast, hot, calm, good views.iangalbraith21/07/2016
Large parking area south of the cattle grid at NX75052 84132 – Over cattle grid & then left along forest road to forest entrance (felling underway) – From entrance went west along ride & then keeping well to the left of Fell Farm up easy angled slopes to the summit & impressive cairn. (S)gerrybowes16/11/2015
With Jenx, able to drive a few hundred yards up the new road put in to remove forestry. Easy to said forest, then old soggy ride to view Fell Farm and hill. Skirted ground to left of farm and obvious boggy area. Straightforward ascent on grassy slopes. Fixed hole in side of impressive cairn.nordicstar08/11/2015
2/3. Major road upgrade works taking place on road to Fell Farm.GmacT12/10/2015
Left the car about 100 yards from the bend at 750843 where there is enough room for 3/4 vehicles. Under 2 hours return but very wet underfoot. Avoid Fell farm as it is very boggy. Solo.bolton14/08/2015
Track to Fell was dry.Lionel Bidwell20/04/2015

From Fell Bridge, muddy disused track to the ruined farmstead at Fell. Operate ham radio for SOTA from summit. The authorities have allowed the installation of 3 tall masts in the area to assess the potential for a wind farm.G4OBK (Phil)16/04/2014
Along a muddy track to the ruins at Fell, then directly up the hillborderterrier29/03/2014
1,100th HuMP and nice to look at. From Fell hill road end. Some parking near cattle grid. could also park in road end as farm is utterly derelict and floating on mud. Fine views to west. Added thrill was meeting one of tamperers in a party as I was descending.Thearlaichdubh26/10/2013
From cattle grid on road near Loch Urr, caused stampede at Fell ruin.neimcv17/07/2013
Trigpointcjo04/01/2012
Climbed from Blackmark to the north with old map that did not show the new forestry. Accessed open hillside via a firebreak starting to 716856 but the long grass continued.Topographer5704/07/2011
parked near loch urr and followed farm track all they way to old disused farm buildings. Easy access but very soft under foot.biggaz77702/06/2011
Along a very squalid track from the East, past an interesting ruined cottage. Misty summit had a trig and very fine cairn nearby. No views unfortunately.Aye Jimmy01/04/2011
Cool bright day with occasional drizzle. Parked near cattle grid to take track from east to Craigmuie, through conifers to access hill near disused farmstead.Dugswell203/05/2010
Revisit. tall summit cairn. Followed track from E, same as last time. Plan was to approach from NW for variety but a plantation has appeared since my LR77 came out! Snowy summit, ascent tussocky in places.RHW28/02/2010

Up and down alongside Fell Burn.Eddie22/11/2002
In full gear and willies. Hill in view all the way. 1 1/2 miles on track past Fell Farm, over ruined walls and uphill through lank grass, small bracken and swamp. To upper slopes and top at 11.10.arranc27/10/2002
Parked on the minor road to the west of Loch Urr. Walked along the track to the derelict Fell farm. From here the ascent was directly uphill. The cairn is very tall and can be seen for miles around.garyhoney22/07/2000
Date is first visit. Notes from later...track good, Fell fm derelict, fine cairn (as a walker with a Tam o'Shanter). good (foot) track from 750843 RHW24/10/1999
