Anti-clockwise horseshoe with John From Talla Farm - up Erie Hill, Garelet Dod, Cape Law, down to the aptly named Rotten Bottom (deep sections of bog), then up to Firthhope Rig and up to White Coomb's summit. Back to Firthhope Rig, around to Lochcraig Head and tapped the cairn (realised later that's not the summit so need to go back for that Donald). Then headed back East then North to Molls Cleuch Dod (checked the summit location this time), then headed over Carlavin Hill and descended (*very* steeply) NE down to Games Hope Burn and followed the track back out to the car. 21km, 1300m of ascent - 6h 47min including a lunch stop near Lochcraig Head. Sunny but freezing winds up top. | mproudfoot | 14/10/2023 |
Mild but breezy; ascent fr car park is quick w obvious developing path to W/N of wall after leaving engineered path, all the way to the top. Views of other hills are dull but Loch Skeen looks good. | NorfolkPT21 | 14/09/2023 |
7 of 8: From Carrifran Gans. Rejoined Karen who waited on the flank of White Coomb. | ChrisR | 04/09/2023 |
SMC route for White Coomb including Lochcraig Head, Nickies Knowe, Firthhope Rig, White Coomb, Carrifran Gans - descended on ATV track to forest track for road walk back, going back over White Coomb would have been better | hummusg | 30/08/2023 |
Second time, on a Donald circuit, 44 years after previous summit. | govanah | 21/04/2023 |
Pretty minging! Straight up and down in not the best conditions the burn was high enough to make it tricky and there was snow on the higher sections. Good to be outside though. Ski goggles were useful with the wind, but not enough snow to need crampons | Nicky C | 21/12/2022 |
Grateful for lifts to / from Moffat. Just clear of the mist. Nice views over Loch Skeen. | davechaffey | 30/10/2022 |
Tough 19 mile circuit of Gameshope with White Coomb, Carrefran Gans, Lochcraig Head and Nickies Knowe added on. Wet first few hours, cleared up nicely | Gary Heath | 14/10/2022 |
Parked at Grey Mare's Tail car park on A708, followed the flagstone path up to Loch Skeen, then ascended Mid Craig (accompanied from Loch to the summit by Matt, a student teacher at Lockerbie High, he turned back once on Mid Craig). Then west to Great Hill, east and south to Firthhope Rig, then up to White Coomb. Descended to Carrifran Gans and dropped down to Polmoddyburn Bridge on the A708, then back to the car park. Dry until I rejoined the A708, spitting until back at the car when the heavens opened, 05:10hrs all in.

That's now everything on the combined list of Donalds and Donad Tops, bar Culter Fell completed... | chillyman8 | 11/09/2022 |

First Donald of a new round | Colin Crawford | 30/04/2022 |
With E. From Grey Mares Tale NT car park. Path above waterfall crossing Tail Burn where wall goes uphill on opposite side. Not too difficult to cross after dry spell. Followed walk uphill past Upper Tarnberry and over Rough Crags. The path here has been improved with stone steps avoiding any rock scrambling. Steady climb continuing alongside old wall to summit cairn. Extensive views over the Southern Uplands, Cheviots and as far as Lake District. Very peaceful. Summit to ourselves. Return same route. Saw feral goats on way down. | Beeliner | 29/04/2022 |

Firthhope Rig, Donald’s Cleuch Head, Firthybrig Head, boggy col to Lochcraig Head, good descent to mire E of Loch Skeen (churned into a morass by a peat restoration project), then the mega-swamp-on-a-slope dome of Watch Knowe. Parked at Grey Mares Tail, then…Upper Tarnberry, Watch Knowe, Mid Craig, Firthhope Rig, White Coomb, Carrifran Gans. 11 miles. 3400ft ascent. Lots of runners going up and over the hills. We stuck to walking. Many touristy campers by the Loch, but nobody on the tops once we got there. Beautiful, sunny, 24 degrees. Perfect! | Toby-and-Dion | 24/07/2021 |
Straight up and down from Grey Mare's Tail car park (£3, full, very short wait for a space). Not much water in the waterfall. Views to the Cheviots, Lake District, Solway Firth, Ben Lawers range. | Owen B | 18/07/2021 |

Circular walk from parking nr bridge at 159 115. Saddle Yolk, Under Saddle Yolk, Cape Law, Din Law, Ellers Cleuch Rig, Garelet Dod, Great Hill, Firthope Rig, White Comb, Carrifran Gans. With B and R. Didn't see a soul. Nice unspoilt area. | jenx | 29/07/2020 |
Beautiful view waterfall on initial ascent. River too high to cross safely until near the Loch (had to take boots off and wade), then went cross-country to get back to path beside fence. Straight forward walk up from there with good 360 views from top. Went back to car park via Nether Tarnberry to avoid crossing river again, followed fence line down but was still extremely steep with no trodden path. Very hard work on ankles and knees, not recommended! | Eliza100 | 12/08/2019 |
1st on the round and took the path at the top of the waterfall following the wall to the top. | Fellhugger | 07/08/2019 |
