after a steep descent, a straight and easy angled path to bypass the ridge's lowest point and take in this peak before returning a couple of hundred yards to the cairn marking the Zigzag path down to Hag's Glen which was in decent condition. with MT and KMniallp17/07/2016
Continuation of walk from Cnoc an Chuillinn. Followed good path steeply down to a col, then up to un-marked summit. To descend, retraced steps for 300m, then took zig-zag path down into the Hag's Glen and track back down to Cronin's Yard. With NP and KM.Man of Kernow117/07/2016
f/a, s/a for malign bui, croc na peiste, the big gun, & cruach mhor, 2 in party, hot & sunny with a breeze, 8hrs approx, 14 km approx. another sunny day, from cronins yard, track then path (priests path?) up onto the shoulder & croc na toinne. along the ridge taking in the tops, good ridge walk, from croc na peiste there is some good scrambling, ridge narrows with some scrambling, choice of a short wet descent to north and reascent back to the ridge or a short step in the ridge. from the big gun, turn the over hang by a steep descent on a path, first large block can be turned by a short descent of a damp tight corner on the east side, clambering around its base to regain the ridge. either take to the crest with several steep down climbs or take a faint path on the west side. this ridge is best tackled coming from cruach mhor rather than from the big gun, this gives the option of tackling the short vertical sections or avoiding them, rather than suddenly arriving at the top of them. desrum doodle 08/04/2015

My last day in Co. Kerry on a trip planned to complete the Furths. Fine weather after yesterday's gale to tackle the remaining summits on the McGillycudy's Reeks. Started from Cronin's Yard, up Hags Glen, then obvious zigzags to a col. I decided to do the simple walk on the easiest grassy ridge imaginable to this summit before tackling the 3000 ft.-ers. A very fine approach to the ridge.pwheeler24/05/2011

Climb of MacGillicuddy's Reeks via Devil's Ladder and Hag's Glen, from Gearha. Excellent traverse of Cnoc na Toinne, Cnoc an Chuillin, Maolan Bui, Knocknapeasta, An Gunna Mor, Cruach Mhor - the scramble over An Gunna Mhor was the highlight. Very clear visibility except couple of showers. Met only four people in whole day.mavero1015/08/2003

Solo. From Carrauntoohil Youth Hostel. Macgillycuddy's Reeks. After the rocky scramble between Cruach Mhor and Knocknapeasta the ridge becomes broad and grassy. Passed over Maolán Bui to reach Cnoc an Chuilin (3141') and Cnoc an Toine (2776') . Continued to Caher and Carrauntoohil before descending to the youth hostel. Time: 7hr 50min. The weather was good. It was misty on and off on the summits.pwbellarby14/06/1987
