A walk from Barmouth, across the Mawddach then up Braich Ddu. Followed the rim of the escarpment round for excellent views down onto Llyn Cyri. On starting the climb up the steep ridge, the previously gentle breeze turned into a proper blow, threatening to knock us down (but luckily blowing us away from the steep drop to our left). Stopped off for a visit to the fine Bronze Age cairn, then onwards to the unremarkable summit via the precariously windy outcrops overhanging the void. Carried on down the ridge to the Cambrian Way descent route before Tyrrau Mawr, which is extremely steep but not dangerous. The last section of steep descent is tortuous, a very narrow path through impassable vegetation either side, full of waterlogged bits and obstacles. We were very happy to reach the flat area by Hafotty-fach. Carried on on paths via Llys Bradwen and the intriguing Arthog stones, then back down to Morfa Mawddach to recross the river as the sun was sinking. An excellent 13.75 mile walk | thesweetcheat | 16/09/2022 |
2/2 Tyrrau Mawr and Craig y Llyn Round of the Nuttalls West of Cadair Idris. A very pretty valley to enjoy on the walk too. Stunning view to Barmouth from the Corries at the top. Nice walk. | nickywood1 | 14/07/2022 |

from Tyrrau Mawr we followed the path that hugs the fence line to the col and up over to the summit which was easy to do so. we came back to the col and you can follow a farm track right that goes to the pony track or as we did take the style down left back to the road. the descent is easy at first but gets steeper but is easy to follow | Aristotle Chip | 28/12/2019 |

Great day getting this pair of HuMP's and stack of other stuff walking from Corris hostel to Kings over Cadair. | Alex C | 04/09/2015 |
Used route C7 in John Gillham's mountains of Snowdonia Guide from Hafotty Fach to get up Tyrau Mawr and then along ridge to Craig-y-Llyn returned over Braich Ddu to the Blue Lake. If using an older map be aware the confier forest has expanded. Footpath past the hut circles gets very boggy, but the tracks for forestry vehicles are a better alternative. Finish with a dip in the sea at Fairbourne. | jimclinch | 05/08/2015 |

From Mary Jones chapel, Nuttalls' walk 10.2 from Vol 1, Wales. With Penda. 1130-1645. Very, very cold and very, very windy. Didn't see another soul on these hills all day, even on a Sunday. Fantastic views - Cadair group clear and covered in fresh snow. Bit of a flog from this top back to the car. | beorwulf | 23/03/2014 |
