From ESE up forest track, then up obvious route between young conifers to gate and then Trig. Not sure how easy this will be in a few years. On to SW top. | PeterD | 17/07/2023 |
Took the direct route up from the south east which was a mistake - steep, bracken, bramble, gorse and young conifers. Descended closer to Gerry's route though still had a bwf to cross. | Rob Rees | 25/11/2022 |
Followed gerrybowes route on the new forest track cutting across the hillside from SN783 392, and leaving it at SN77553 39053 to walk up between the rows of new conifers. The trees look like they'll grow quickly to make this more difficult in the future! Through the gate at SN77664 39241, and to the summit. | LizH | 01/06/2022 |
Noted PGCE's log & used the new forest track. Parked in wide entrance at start of track; this is located alongside the access track to Bwlch-y-fforest at SN 7833 3922 - E. up track to just beyond the high point & then up banking to pick up an old ATV track; this heads up SW ridge between young conifers (not a firebreak) to an old iron gate at top of forest - Over gate & a short climb to trig point. Grand looking hill & a fine viewpoint. (S) | gerrybowes | 12/01/2022 |
Parked at junction to NNE, by SH 219. Road, then track. What others have called a 'permissive path' now has a sign 'Private Land No Public Access'. There is a new track going around S and SW side of hill which might prove a better option. | PGCE | 01/04/2021 |
Absolute delight of a hill. | Alex C | 21/09/2019 |
Up from Cynghordy. Muddy start then a green road. Both tops. | Eddie | 11/09/2018 |
With K. M did not summit. RM stayed by car. If approaching from W do not turn off track early - you will be confounded by fences. Use concessionary track from NW. | Ashley | 31/05/2016 |
I parked at the sharp bend to the E. before heading along the track to access the permissive path up the NE ridge. A fine hill with good all round views. | Chris Peart | 16/02/2016 |
Had to park a lot further away due to the parking space near Moelfre Farm entrance being a quagmire. Deightful walk up hog back ridge more in keeping with South Shropshire or Worcestershire. Excellent viewpoint. | Campbell Singer | 03/01/2016 |
Visited the several possible contenders but trig looks highest to me and is certainly the finest point. | clivevilla | 09/12/2015 |

Fine hill, the best of the 16 we did over 3 days in this part of Wales. From N, a permissive path leads from SN 78372 40037, steeply to ridge top then past several contenders for the high point, all of which fail: the trig is the summit. Extensive views. | jonglew | 24/08/2014 |
From Cynghordy station and via Tyr Gofal access path from SN 784 399. | summitsup | 22/03/2012 |
Easy parking to south and pretty much straight up. As MR best to visit point 341 - its no effort. | destaylor | 16/03/2012 |
The other 341 point seemed lower than the trig. However, my GPS recorded a higher altitude at the other point. ??? Permissive path all the way from SN783402 - muddy cowpooh start. | Martin R | 04/08/2011 |
Whilst visiting pillar | Dusty | 20/01/2009 |
fine steep shapely hill, great view. (1) 783392, line of least visibility to summit @ TP; (2) from road bend, NNE along track, cross pasture to good tk along NE ridge | RHW | 02/04/2000 |
1m stroll up 400' on track and over sheep grass to top. | arranc | 30/04/1999 |
