Solo hike. Yewdale Beck & Holme Fell Circular. 5.9km = 2hrs. Clear weather today; only breezy once I reached the exposed hillside at the top. Made friends with some Herdwick sheep near Yew Tree Farm at the start of the route :) Could easily extend this to reach Ivy Crag (302m) but cloud was fast setting in, and the descent and ascent to reach it would have taken me a further 20 mins.LaurenAyres26/01/2024

On the way home from Coniston YH, with Alex McBride, started from the informal large parking area just south of Shepherds Bridge (SD 3142 9982). We followed the 'bridleway' (I hate the English access laws) toward Glen Mary Bridge but turned before hand, up to the Uskdale Gap via Harry Guards Wood, got to the cairn shown on the OS maps first, before moving west to the higher area (spot height of 317m), cracking views over Coniston Water. Returned the same way, we past a few people, its a popular wee hill.chillyman822/10/2023
Storm Babet. 9th visit. 7 hrs on my feet covering 21 km linking 12 low hills (5 repeat tumps & 7 new sub-tumps) on a circuit from Knipe Fold. Took a battering from Storm Babet - met office forecast of 'Gales or severe gales northeasterly winds, even at lower levels and stormy on the tops'. Up from Hodge Close peering carefully into the old slate quarries and frightening holes having trekked over from Little Langdale and picked off the delightful oak wooded sub-tump of Low Coppice. Battled into wind along the whole mile long lumpy length of the fell with its many ups and downs- including the summit and the two sub-tumps. Viscous updraft (venturi effect) when on the escarpment edge of Man Crag. A grassy path twists along the ridge and I discovered descends to the bridleway to N -perfect for my needs rather than plunging down steep scree and deep bracken to get back to the other side of Tarn Hows. Marvelled at how I ever found any controls up here on my first big O Champs back in 87.Chris Pearson20/10/2023

7.2 mile circular from the car park west of Tarn Hows. We followed a lovely trail through woods up to Tarn Hows then followed paths across to Black Fell. We descended west and after ending up on a wrong path that disappeared into a bog, We found the correct path by Hollin Bank to the road. We then followed mostly tracks past High Oxen Fell farm and found our way up onto Holme Fell. We then descended to Yew Tree Tarn, back to the car park. 555m ascent. Only a few people about. Sunny conditions becoming overcast and then becoming sunny again. Great views of the higher mountains from both summits.DanTrig16/09/2022
