2 of 3 starting at the beginning of Dawson close. From darnbrook cut through the woods then up steep side of hill having a sandwich near the main stream leading up then past fountains fell tarn like a oasis in the barren landscape. Was forecast to bucket it down but blue skies and sun out was a bonus | The-Z-Man | 07/01/2023 |

Nuttall walk 12.4 from the parking area at Halton Gill: Darnbrook Fell, Fountains Fell South Top, Fountains Fell, Pen-y-ghent and Plover Hill. Day started bright and warm but rain closed in and it was a typical, cold, miserable bank holiday by the end of the day. 15 miles of hard walking, but didn't see a soul except at Pen-y Ghent. | Lazylizzie | 30/04/2022 |

Walking solo. Started from Littondale-Stainforth road at Dawson Close following green lane heading ENE. Left green lane at 876738 (Cow Close) to follow wall directly up Darnbrook Fell. Met farmer who wasn't happy I wasn't on a path and said I'd have to negotiate several walls. Actually only one and not a problem. It's all open access land. Trig point at summit but peat hag on other side of fence looks higher. Headed SW for a few km over trackless terrain to Fountains Fell, bypassing the Tarn to reach the S Top. Rough underfoot ... heather and peat hags. Backtracked to main summit and returned via Pennine Way to road. 4 hours. Weather was cloudy, occasional mist, breezy, dry. | jamessteel100 | 22/07/2019 |

Solo. Parked where Pennine Way comes in from the east to meet road at SD852723. Followed the Pennine Way to a high point NE of the summit of Fountains Fell. Followed a path that goes somewhat S of the wall to the summit. Went S to meet wall and follow it to South Top. Went back to summit of Fountains Fell – now very misty. Followed alternative path beside the wall to reach Pennine Way and so back to my starting point. | pwbellarby | 01/03/2019 |
