A New Years Day walk with Alma Aurea on Warren Hills and then Bardon Hill. Better views from the trigpoint than I expected, a nice summit to visit. /D | meltdiceburg | 01/01/2024 |
On Way home from South Downs. Parked like others from Vercor Close. Pleasant woodland and actually cracking views. Enjoyed more than I had expected to. Watched planes landing at I think East Midlands? | nickywood1 | 04/10/2023 |
Revisit of my local Marilyn after nearby Tump bag. Walked up footpath from Whitwick Road. | KevPalmer | 03/10/2023 |
From Vercor Close, a pleasant walk up through woodland. Good views from the trig point; impressive views of the quarry. An interesting hill, formed of some of England's oldest rocks. | justin_j_evans | 30/07/2023 |
Parked in Vercor Close to the N and followed Ivanhoe Way to the top by the mast. Trig point was more interesting with views over the quarry. As long as we need roads we will need quarries like this. Overcast. Solo. | richard69 | 14/07/2023 |
Leicester summit at long last, actually really good, amazing quarry, and good riding. Bit of a carry to actual summit. | visionset | 07/06/2023 |
On a pleasant 15km circuit from Amazon Prime warehouse. Perhaps my 600th Marilyn. | Phreerunner | 05/06/2023 |
With Deborah, Frances & Rory | Donpeblo | 13/04/2023 |
A cold day in the East Midlands. A few miles' walk from the bus stop at Bardon, over the quarry and to the summit. The quarry makes for a fairly bleak industrial landscape in winter but overall nice views. | hillbagger91 | 04/02/2023 |
Climbed up from Greenhill on Ivanhoe Way | mavero10 | 28/01/2023 |

5 of 5 starting on bluebell way in Coalville. 12.8 miles. Last of the day. Didnt stick around long at the top. Picked the wrong day. About 100 kids on school trip at the top. Marilyn no. 63 | The-Z-Man | 25/06/2022 |
Did Bardon Hill on the first day of a 4 day County Top trip with my cousin. Very interesting county top with the quarry being literally almost on the edge of where the Summit and Trig is located. | DavidHiner | 19/03/2022 |
From Vercor Close up Ivanhoe Way. Very muddy after recent rain. Top is a rocky tor; trig is further on and lower. Another Marilyn which is worth climbing but not worth travelling to climb, to paraphrase Dr Johnson. | peter4lc | 05/03/2022 |
From Vercor Close LE67 4QS. 1 hour return. | CXB | 20/01/2022 |
With MGT, DC & RHP. From Billa Barra Nature Reserve car park (SK 46888 11134). After the trig pt visited several rocky outcrops, not sure which was the highest. | ADT | 03/01/2022 |
From N along Ivanhoe Way during Storm Arwen, so very windy and cold. Some snow but mostly muddy. Nice views to N of snow covered Pennines. Sunset and storm winds made for a dramatic scene. Summit tor was awkward to access amongst trees and shubbery. Solo | RoguePulsar | 27/11/2021 |
Parked at Vercor Close and a nice gentle walk to the summit, a few dog walkers around and that was about all. Beautiful views on a fresh November morning. | jamiequackers | 25/11/2021 |
From Vercor Close, Coalville. | paulhilder | 08/08/2021 |
The highest point in Leicestershire and also location of Bardon Hill Trig Point. Great views down into Bardon Hill Quarry (which has encroached almost to the summit) and across to Ellistown and Coalville. Accessible by public footpaths from Copt Oak and Bardon. | praenterprise | 01/08/2021 |
Nice walk on a hot morning. Views improved as the murk slowly cleared. Only met a few near the top. | David Bremner | 21/07/2021 |
Last of 18 historic county tops on this leg of my tour of Britain. Fantastic views from the Trig point at the top. Fantastic views in most directions. All except to the NW where the enormous Amazon warehouse marrs the view. | pclyndes | 22/06/2021 |
Bagged while walking the 16 mile Charnwood Peaks Walk. | ijpowell | 09/06/2021 |
Along edge of quarry from road to the northeast. Descended south along Ivanhoe Waythat has been rerouted to the west of the Granite workings | KeithByTheC | 24/05/2021 |
From Vercor Close, circuit of the hill, boggy heading up. Didn't see anyone else all walk | Jephcote83 | 22/12/2020 |
Parked in the lorry lay-by on the A511 roundabout that links to the B585. Walked eastwards along the dual carriageway footpath past a wee church on the same roundabout until reaching a ROW. This went through a recently planted woodland to Brook Farm, which seems to be the HQ of an Aggregate Company, and onto a private road northwards to Bardon Hall. The Ivanhoe Way crosses this road just east of the Hall, giving a well signposted route to the summit and Trig. Returned the same way. | summitter | 23/09/2020 |
Another day out to bag some of the county tops from Jonny Muir's book and a few additional hills. Nice view of the quarry from the trig point. Followed the route from the book and came back down through the woods. | Buck | 15/08/2020 |
Pleasant walk up on path ('Ivanhoe Way') from GreenHills Rd , on a warm day | mazz | 12/07/2020 |
Second visit, also did rock tor to east. | andrew brown | 21/06/2020 |
With Sal and Sarah on a grey damp day. Managed a bit of bouldering on the mat and then a swim in Dosthill quarry. | davechaffey | 04/06/2020 |
set off from Billa Barra to SE, but new fenced-off plantation Diversion cast me out on to minor road to Cpt Oak, so I recalled my waiting chauffeur and went in and out from Agar Nook in Coalville. Nice rocky top but views less than beautiful. | IanHHill | 15/03/2020 |
Northern route via Vercor Close, a lot of mud at the bottom, but after a year in Amsterdam, good to be climbing hills again and enjoying the views! Quite possibly volcano #1. | edmundjohnson | 14/03/2020 |
Sometimes I wonder why I bother with hills like this, but it wasn't far from the motorway and it's another tick on the map😉 | Nicky C | 22/02/2020 |
