From Forter for a round of Badandun Hill, Monamenach and Creagan Caise Hill. | rhalstead | 16/09/2023 |
Good parking (for around 2 cars at start of walk/Cateran Trail and for around 3 cars near the bridge) and and lovely hill | mazz | 27/08/2023 |
Very limited parking down here but managed to get the van on the grass outside the road entrance to Keepers Cottage, Fergus. Over bridge then signposted across field along north edge of woods to join track. Over small stream then grass slopes to summit trig. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 06/07/2023 |
Second ascent, by different route from south, with dog this time. Rather a bleak, grey day. | Invicta14 | 18/05/2023 |
Couldn't face any more heather bashing so opted for the track from south of Bridge of Forter rather than the shorter ascent from Fergus. Easy parking, very easy ascent, good track all the way. Retraced steps. | Owen B | 28/04/2023 |
Circuit from Fergus.

From Bridge of Forter, Glen Isla via The Knaps, along the east side of Badandun Hill and then climb hill from north-east. Descent to south-east via Cuingard and return. | raymooremanx | 05/02/2023 |
With Jon, straight up and down in soft wet snow. | Grinner | 30/12/2022 |
Parked at 18966842 North of Delnamer. Followed the road over the bridge to the wood, skirt round the wood to meet the track and follow it all the way to Craig Lair. Descent ESE picking up faint paths and ATV tracks over to Bodnasparet. Descend Southwest to 21556898 and continue to you meet the main track, follow it up to the top of Badandun Hill. Descend West back down the track to the corner of the wood then cross two burns before skirting around the wood to the road, and back to the start. | smocks and denims | 08/12/2022 |
From car park at Bridge of Fortar up on ATV track to E of hill and then up on vague path to summit. Return by newer ATV track more to W. Intermittent views. | MichaelF | 29/10/2022 |

Parked at NO 18737 64800, space for 3 or 4 cars. Followed the track from there to the top. Probably eMTB-able with loose stones and a few steepish sections. | Jhimmy | 09/07/2022 |
Second visit, on TGOC22 | Colin Crawford | 22/05/2022 |
From Fergus via the track that goes up to Craig Lair, by-passing the dogleg of it. On to Bodnasparet. | sclater | 02/12/2021 |
3/3 After Duchray, from Fergus. Was going to cycle up but arsey goml signs put me off – diversion along invisible ‘public footpath’. Took circuitous bulldozed track to summit, cut straight back down to N. Weather improving at top. Time includes 23m cycling. | Rounsfell | 05/11/2021 |
From Bridge of Fortar. | lenman | 19/09/2021 |
From Little Forter, on tracks all the way. | BLACKHILL | 22/06/2021 |
On circular with Craig Lair (sub-Sim) and Bodnasparet (Sim). From track to NNW. Signs (after bridge) directing walkers away from house - a stile would have been nice! Path mentioned - not yet! Not difficult walking - used track to Craig Lair, some rough ground to Bodnaspret (with helpful atv from NO 22010 69528. Rejoined track at NO 2147 6896 and onto Badandun. Direct down SW side stream to woods and again a walker diversion sign around top of woods - onto rough ground and only a few (natural) stones to help crossing stream at NO 20207 67667 | carole engel | 13/05/2021 |
A great walk from Bridge of Forter. Up the Cateran Trail, then the shooting track (mainly grassy and pleasant) via Cuingard all the way to the summit. Stunning views on a perfectly clear sunny day. An easy and fast walk. | Gill | 21/04/2021 |
Cateran trail from Little Forter. Followed main track from the wee lay-by NE until we reached the second snowman of the morning. A newer track not on any of my paper or digital maps climbed northwards from here, rising between Pt.643 of the main ridge and Cuingard to its west. The track goes right to the summit of Badandun Hill so any easy bag on a crisp and sunny day. As we continued a slippery descent to Bodnasparet the clouds rolled in from the Cairngorm plateau and gave us a 15 minute white out. Nevertheless, we soldiered on as the sun returned to warm our fingers and toes, bagging Bodnasparet, Craig Lair then Fore Brae before calling it a day and heading home via Fergus and Dail na Sneachd. | summitter | 30/12/2020 |
From Fergus. Used 4x4 track for a bit then struck off directly towards summit. | quadbarrel | 07/11/2020 |
On tracks from Bridge of Forter. | Winterfloodian | 14/08/2020 |
A good round of six tops from head of Glen Isla where I camped a couple of nights by the parking area. Apart from the walking were two encounters, close up, with Hen Harriers. The first rose up from the trackside ditch about 10 metres in front of me, looked at me for a bit before moving off, then a similar incident less than 5 minutes later which may, or may not have been the same bird. Then, much later in the day three rose up in front of me, again no more than 10 metres away. I guess a pair and this years chick which would be full grown by mid July. Apart from that there were the tops: Finalty Hill, down to Bawhalps, and Craigie Thieves, cut corner on way across to Mid Hill so I could get some water (left my water bottle at tent) but overdid it so missed it, round to Bodnasparet; back to pick up mid hill and finally Badandun Hill, down to road for walk back to tent. A really good day. More estate tracks than shown on map. | dickscroop | 16/07/2020 |

With Grant from Auchavan down road to Fergus then up track, contour to col and on to trig. Then big loop north over Craig Lair, Mid Hill and Bawhelps to shelter (really big grouse butt) thern down Sron Deirg and Glen Cally to cars. Beat the impending thunderstorms which had ruled out Mayar and/or Finalty Hill. | SS | 31/07/2019 |

A round mostly on good tracks from the road up Glen Isla at the turning to Fergus Lodge: Badandun Hill, Craig Lair, Bodnasparet and Fore Brae, descending to rejoin the track to Fergus. Airy and enjoyable. | Nick Down1 | 06/07/2019 |
From Forter, via Cateran Trail and Cuingard- a delightful route with fine views up and down Glen Isla. We continued over the top, to a junction, and down to Fergus on estate roads, some being bulldozed giving wider tracks. Then back to Forter on a track by the river. A fine walk (described in SMC guide to Grahams). Cloudy with base about 3600 ft. With Pete | pwheeler | 27/03/2019 |
Parked at NO187648. Up the direct track, marked on 1:25000 but not yet on 1:50000. Back by the track on the east and south side. | Pete R | 09/03/2019 |
Mid Hill, Bodnasparet, Badandun from Glen Isla (starting near Fergus). Frozen ground and snow with tracks much of the way. Good views. | RobertP | 28/10/2018 |
From Freuchies and part of the Cateran Trail from the south. Early mist clearing to cloudless conditions. | Windy Corner | 30/06/2018 |
Roasting hot day. Easy ascent up bulldozed tracks | ngthack | 27/06/2018 |
Quick up and down from good parking spot at NO 1874 6475. Farm vehicle / quad tracks all the way to the top. | jonglew | 09/06/2018 |
Walked track to Fergus. Heavy rain meant Fergus Burn was tricky to cross. Followed track East until able to cross; large herd of Red Deer on hillside. then directly up steep heathery slopes. Trig with small cairn to N.W. Descended directly to track to Fergus, and across Ford. Should have taken this as ascent route. With the F.C. | The Captain | 13/05/2018 |
With Matt, on route to camping trip in Glen Isla. Normal ascent from Glen Isla up the track and then direct descent from the top to meet up with the gang in time. Nice easy walk. | SabineN | 23/09/2017 |
Parked at Fergus Lodge area. Then up track on summit within hour. Good views. Lovely day. Company: Solo | iandesbottes | 17/05/2017 |
Snow all day very deep snow thigh deep & deeper on the ascent to the summit. Spotted Grouse, Mountain hares large herds of Deer some sheep & a friendly Heilin Coo. Too soft for sliding down but I gave it my best shot. with Dianne Scorgie | LizzieG | 10/02/2017 |

From Fergus, via Bodnasparet. Overcast, mild, cool wind and good views. | iangalbraith | 31/07/2016 |
With D Roeder. Parked on road by Fergus & walked up track past house to about 207688, then up to track on NE ridge and to top (14:15). Descended direct to Fergus. No bridge over stream there. Dry with good views. Finish 15:10 | dbb | 01/05/2016 |
2 in same day. Badandun Hill NO 207678 S/F NO 189684 and Mount Blair NO 167629 S/F NO 155642. Sunny day but cool, high broken cloud giving great views all day. Mount Blair must be one of the best viewpoints in Scotland despite its low height. Combined ascent of about 900 m, a typical Munro but was very tired by second sumit and knees aching on discent. Getting on a bit, need to get fiter again. | John Young | 01/04/2016 |
cold day with snow | oatcake | 01/03/2016 |
