Solo run from Ponstic dam .. taking in Merthyr Common and Pen March .. Lot better than expected with some good trods to follow and mostly dry underfoot .. interesting area with some impressive sink holes .. ran around a bit to ensure I got the bagsmilejunkie02/05/2023

From Dolygaer. Circuit of Pant y Creigiau, Bryniau Gleision, Cefn yr Ystrad, Twyn Ceilog, Pen March and Merthyr Common. (Too foggy to go scrambling about for Cwar yr Ystrad)Arbie06/08/2020
Parked in the Hawthorns in Pantcadifor and followed the footpath out, from here I headed north through a farm (there appears to be no right of way here but I was not challenged) to reach what appears to be a gas works once on the other side I headed northeast for the top. One hour 40 minutes for the Three and half miles which also took in Merthyr common.WAYNE ROWLETT21/03/2020
With E. Parked by Water Works entrance at Pontsticill and took steeply rising path on opposite side of road uphill under Brecon Mountain Railway onto Merthyr Common. Lots of sheep tracks so used GPS to take direct line to summit by Pwll Mere which had dried up. Then onto Pen March and second top. Return same route. Very quiet. Saw no other walkers.Beeliner14/07/2019
3/7 From Twyn yr Arian to south, very wet tussocks but managed to avoid the man eating ones. Third county top of daypenbet15/06/2019
From Dolygaer. Circuit of Pant y Creigiau, Bryniau Gleision, Cwar yr Ystrad, Cefn yr Ystrad, Twyn Ceilog, Pen March and Merthyr Common. Shouldn't have bothered with the last three as it was a thankless bogfest for uninspiring 'summits'.welshyboyo27/05/2019

As Merthyr Common. Murky day added to the atmosphere.ngthack18/08/2018
From Garth. Easy walking although heavy rain meant that Nant Tor Gwyn difficult to cross. Final Welsh county top. Not the most exciting particularly in thick mist and drizzle.Campbell Singer02/04/2018

From the water treatment works near Pontsticill. It is not as easy as it looks on the map. Much of it is pathless with parts having man-eating tussocks.clivevilla25/06/2015

Not a great fan of boundary tops at the best of time, but this one is particularly flat, dull and featureless.Hillsidenick26/07/2013
Parked easily to SW 'The Hawthorns' then track and path practically all the way.destaylor08/03/2013
From Twyn yr Aran to SE. Ascent less of a slog than I expected - there's a reasonable path up through the moorland (although it's easy to lose). Unitary top is unmarked, just a point in the grass. Another one for the GPS!wheresthepath22/04/2011
parked at cattle grid as Ted below, not a bad walk but pleased I won't be coming back again.asbown01/03/2010

Approached from South East having parked next to cattle grid near Twyn yr Aran. Approach through fields was fine but last 600 meters was over tussocky and sometimes boggy ground. Summit very unremarkable.Father Ted20/09/2008
