Enjoyed a pleasant walk from Liverpool street station for 2 'hills' - Swanfield street and Bethnal Green. neither were that exciting but Columbia road flower market, Shoreditch and Hackney were enjoyable.Buck13/11/2022
While on run along canal to Victoria Park from homelerritt12/09/2020
In town for a gig at a place in Hackney. Drove over after. Not much to see at night, might be a nice canal walk in the day. Odd a canal being on a hill top.MysteriousSue21/05/2019
Walked up from Cambridge Heath Station. Enough said.Ramblingpaul18/10/2018
A canal at the top of a hill - an unusual juxtaposition.summitter30/11/2017

Took the King's Head Theatre Run Club with me to go quickly bag this one. Ran down the canal from Islington and back.Fionalevey04/04/2017
Parked just into Northam St, wandered back to Mare St and took a GR on the narrow traffic island which could be the HP. Traffic still moderately heavy so a little care was required.jonglew06/02/2017
Walked here from Whitechapel past the Blind Beggar and the Museum of Childhood. Again not easy to identify any natural high ground. Walked along the canal to Mile End tube. Lot's of ParksSixtyplus28/10/2016

A stroll from Bethnal Green tube along Cambridge Heath Road to the highest land by and on the bridge. A very urban experience, but there is a poignant juxtaposition between the memorial to those killed in the wartime crush to get into Bethnal tube air raid shelter mentioned by Chris Pearson and the emergency warning lights in use to stop people entering the tube.Nick Down122/09/2016
A fascinating walk from Bethnal green tube on a vibrant warm summer's evening. Cosmopolitan London at its best with so much contrast to see- street alive with people chatting, cycling -some on Boris( now Khan?) bikes ,and eating in 'every nationality' of restaurant and bars.(Germany v France semi-final of Euro 16 on many big screens). Quick look at the 9 mile Regents Canal which offers a pleasant and 'secret walking/ cycling route linking the Thames with The Grand Union Canal. A sad & reflective day to be on the packed and sweltering tube being the 11th anniversary of the 2005 tube bombings. One outcome has been the increase in cycle commuting since then (e,g along Regents Canal). During WWII 173 civilians were crushed to death in a panic to reach the air raid shelter at Bethnal Green tube -kept secret by the War Dept at the time for public moral.Chris Pearson07/07/2016

4th of 12 LBTs today. Not sure how a canal can be a top of anything and the bridge is clearly not a natural feature, but whole area so flat I don't suppose it makes much difference. Then caught a red bus - first time for over 40 years.Hillsidenick14/05/2013
After walk sortie via tube/train around E London tops. This from tube station and road plod to canal bridge. Towpath looked nice but no time to investigate as on to Wanstead flats.nordicstar30/04/2013
Visited With Darren while trying to visit all the high points on London in one day.magirob10/01/2013
Yep, on canal bridge although you can barely see the canal past the barriers! The Museum of Childhood to the south sounded like it might be worth a trip back with my daughter, but it gets a bit run down between the museum and the bridge. Not great.wheresthepath29/12/2011
