From good parking at 205265. Steady climb under the railway bridge generally south to 218247, then NW and within 100yds a small path takes you up to the higher track as a short cut. Forest clears and then a short climb to the summit. With D. Dave. | bolton | 13/03/2024 |
Parked at wide junction to Succoth Lodge. Good forest road to fence, east of summit. Climbed deer fence then across grass to hp. With bolton. | Dangerous Dave | 13/03/2024 |
The description in the 2022 SMC Guide is out of date. The track at NN217249 is only a firebreak (we built a small cairn) and leads to a new road, which follow left before turning right on a distinct track obstructed higher up by fallen trees. | Galltywenallt | 30/03/2023 |
From Meall nan Gabhar. With JD. Straightforward descent, over the fence, short and easy route through a narrow band of forestry, WSW along the forestry track to the edge of the cleared area, then up the open hillside. Back to the forestry track at the same point and easily back along the track to the A85. Drizzly, cloud base at 550m. | Owen B | 11/02/2023 |
OMC Meet at club's cottage, with Tricia and Ewan at on beginnings of forestry track just west of the Glen Orchy road. Headed up the track under the Oban railway line to the bleacach then west to Beinn Bhalgairean. Snow was lying above 500m quiet strong SW breeze snowing heavily, very wet lower down 05:15hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 14/01/2023 |
Parked at start of Brackley Farm drive, through farm, over bridge & then S on intermittent ATV track to broken bridge (NN 18109 25848) and through deer fence (NN 18311 25318). Then SE just below Meall Breac ridge to summit. Return over MB. 4hrs. | MichaelF | 23/10/2022 |
Corryghoil - Succoth - boggy forest track - new track up firebreak - Meall nan Gabbar -Meall nan Tighearn - west to forest - tracks - Beinn Bhalgairean - back to forest - tracks - Corryghoil | davidpettit84 | 11/10/2022 |
Parked opposite bridge to Succoth Lodge. Up main track to 220245. Mapped direct track SW is horribly overgrown so NW on logging track then first obvious branch SE before piles of road materials, then curves to SW to junction with obvious rougher track which branches down at 216244ish to join old grassy track (clear, in use here) down and up to open gate 216239-ish, then to Meall nan Gabhar. Back the same way to 216244, then SW on logging track continuing SW on old rough track then short obvious side track NW to open gate at 211240-ish then up Beinn Bhalgairean, faint path comes and goes. Dodged under the fence at obvious strainer/stream approx 208241, then to top. Track seems to be quiet before 9.30 and after 3.30 but you will meet trucks if you try driving to Succoth Lodge in between those times. Easy but fairly dull hills spoiled by industrial forestry and pylons. | Gill | 26/09/2022 |
Solo. From parking at NN19302782 just off the A85 road along the main forest road and tracks to NN21092404 where there is an open gate giving access to the open hillside. Further uphill there is a fence which I climbed over. On the way down found I could squirm under the fence at a point where a small watercourse goes under it. | pwbellarby | 09/06/2022 |
Solo with Lily and Rosie. Drove to apex of access road so easy ascent and descent from one of the many forestry tracks and then only a little bit of clearcut brash before open dry moor. Found a hole in the fence to get the dogs through. | alexmaclennan | 03/04/2022 |
MC Alone.

Parked just up track, off A85, at NN193275, where there was plenty of room for a large vehicle. Bike up to 220247, then round of Meall nan Gabhar, Meall nan Tighearn and Beinn Bhalgairean. 6 of 6: From Beinn Bhoidheach SE Top. | ChrisR | 01/11/2016 |
Did the two grahams from the bridge on the track to Succoth. Easy finding the way onto both of them due to cleared forest and useful new tracks. Only 4 hours for both, without cycling, though got a bit of a lift down on a timber wagon. | jenx | 09/09/2016 |
After Gabhar dropped back the way came but aimed 200m up the Alt Coire Lair to the old track, now part resurfaced and well visible from above. this then followed to join a new very good forest track used to extract trees, which runs up the West side of Bhalgairean. Becomes an excellent smooth hill path, and leads out onto the fell at GR 21086 24054. Easy thereafter but for a rickety deer fence. Weather breaking down but we had good views all around. Back same way and followed the new track to where it meets the tracks shown on the current OS 1:50k at GR 21756 24882 which then followed back down to the parked van. | nordicstar | 09/09/2016 |
With D Roeder. Parked on road by Corryghoil (8:15) and walked up track to junction at 220245. Track NW for abt 100m, then up to higher track (not on map) to about 216243 and briefly through felling to open country. Then via gate at 219247 to summit of Beinn Bhalgairean (10:25). Returned to junction, followed track round bend to abt 220243, then steeply up through old felling through crags to broad ridge and summit of Meall nan Gabhar (12:30). Mostly dry but not v clear. Back to junction and down to car; finish 14:15. Teams of workmen replacing cables on power line from Cruachan. | dbb | 03/05/2016 |

No problem parking, route as below, very wet ground due to recent snow melt. Also Beinn Bhreac an easy extension. | dickscroop | 26/03/2014 |
Plenty of parking space near start of yrack to Brackley. Past the farm, over the railway bridge and then make for a gate at NN18116 25889, soon arriving at gate in deer fence at top corner of plantation. Then it is PYO route to the summit and its misplaced cairn. | Martin R | 06/03/2014 |

From Brackley. To farm yard, under pylons, over railway and on buggy tracks by stream. Quagmire as hillside had been gouged out by machines erecting new deer fences. Through a new gate in the new fence onto tussock slopes. Light snow patches from overnight rain. Onto broad undulating ridge, snow becoming more serious as I got higher. To top 13.00. No view - mist. | arranc | 03/04/2006 |
