From Linn of Dee; Carn a Mhaim, Ben Macdui, Beinn Mheadhoin, Creagan a Choire Etchachan, Derry Cairngorm and back over Carn Crom to Linn of Dee. Walked the whole way time 11 hours for 24.25 miles. Showery and cold on the plateau with winds gusting to 50-60mph. Saw Golden Eagle Ptarmigan and Snow Bunting. | isabelle | 02/10/2023 |

From the Cairngorm car park: Fiacaill a' Choire Chais, down Coire Raibeirt, around the west end of Loch Avon, then up the path towards Loch Etchachan. Left that path early to visit Stac Dubha (recommended). The summit tor of Beinn Mheadhoin has one slightly exposed moment, but the rock was dry. Then a thunderstorm was forecast so we took a looong route back via The Saddle and Strath Nethy (the route we went up was better). | Pete R | 14/08/2022 |

An epic four-Munro walk in scorching heat and clear skies, with an added herd of reindeer on the summit of Macdui. | Mark Jackson | 13/08/2022 |

Coire Cas, up Fiacaill a Choire Chais and down Coire Raibeirt to Shelterstone. Up path to Loch Etchachan, then up new path to summit ridge of Mheadhoin. Easy scramble to top in dry, sunny conditions. Down north-east above Creag Dhubh to small, steep path to outflow of Loch Avon. Up to The Saddle and up small path to Ciste Mhearad and back to summit of Cairngorm past 60-70 raindeer. Then down path past Ptarmigan restaurant to carpark. | Flatfield | 08/09/2021 |

2/3. After A’Chaorainn by obvious route. Sunny spells, all tops clear, but cold. Second visit after finding tor unclimbable in winter with Malky. | Rounsfell | 06/09/2020 |
Rob and I had 2 more to go in this trip, Derry Cairngorm and Beinn Mheadhoin. We started off descending towards Loch Etchachan. Leaving the packs to set off to the right for Derry Cairngorm (no. 8 1155m). No drama. Retracing steps we collected the packs and reached the loch shore again leaving the packs and ascending the track under restoration to Bheinn Mheadhoin (No 9. 1182m). This was a remarkable section with open ridge and the rocky stacks lying like warts on the ridge tops. We climbed the summit stack without difficulty considered an afternoon that could be spent exploring alternative rock climbing routes and then set off with the thoughts of our end point in mind. Picking up the sacs at the Loch we then headed down to Loch Avon remembered the shelter stone and camping ground of my early Arduous Training days as a school boy. We stopped to bathe our feet in a burn feeding Loch Avon and set of off up the Alt Coire Raibert a flower-fringed scramble to the shoulder of Cairngo | david.walker40 | 10/08/2020 |

From Linn of Dee Car Park (NO 06340 89816)). Good track to Derry Lodge, good track/path up Glen Derry (occasionally muddy in places). If Glas Allt Mor is in spate then crossing it could be a problem. Clear, stony path (stepped in places) from Coire Etchachan Burn up onto the summit plateau, visible path to the SW top. Low visibility on the plateau so careful navigation required to reach the Munro summit which is a huge granite tor, a nervy scramble to the top in gale-force conditions! | david230201 | 03/10/2019 |

Solo. Left Cairngorm Lodge youth hostel over Fiacall path to Coire Raibert. Spectacular. Crossed Loch Avon below the Shelter Crag. Saw the Shelter Stone but didn't go in. Met two men next day who spent the night there. Followed track up to Loch Etchacan. Very wet underfoot. Followed a path to top and then onto summit tor. Great weather. Headed down to track to Hutcheson Memorial bothy. 3 DofE people already there. Left next morning and headed back to hostel via Lairig Ghru and Chalamain Gap. Learned that one of the group who loaned me a map had been killed by rockfall climbing Pigme ridge in Coire an S-neachda. | munromurph | 02/09/2014 |

Climbed with Maggie on a day that started fine but ended in thundery showers. Summit plateau has several tors which are unusual. Summit is on top of one. Bike problems on way out - (puncture). | dave neilson | 26/07/2014 |
With Chris Watson and Alan Dawson. Miserable on top, clagged in strong southerly wind with drizzle. Exhausting walk over fine clear Cairngorm summit, down to and round west end of loch Avon with cliffs and rain starting. Back down to loch Avon and long knackereing reascent 400m to col S of Cairngorm. 2000 of total ascent and utterly exhausting for my legs and body. | vegibagger | 14/07/2014 |
One night at the Hutchinson Hut was all I could stand. Got to the top by 6:30am. Very cool but calm. | Play2End | 12/06/2014 |
